New 2019 Head Coach Sam Protich:
The water has always been my home: learning to swim by 2 and joining East County Stingrays under Serge Victor at 7 in 2002. At the age of 11, I transitioned into fall season and spring clinics with Serge at New Wave Aquatics. At 16, I made the jump to club by joining the Concord Terrapins Swim Team. While in high school, I swam 3 years varsity and was a team captain senior year. Over the course of the years, I gained swimmer/coach and assistant coaching experience from East County Stingrays, Dana Hills Otters, Oakhurst Orcas, and New Wave Aquatics. I cannot wait to share my passion, dedication, and techniques I’ve learned along the way to the team and see what new accomplishments your swimmers can do!
2019 Asst. Head Coach Brandon James:
Brandon brings the experience of an Olympic Trialist from 2016, he also broke the national junior college record in the finals of the Men’s 200 back. James posted a 1:45.18, breaking the national mark of 1:45.19 set by Stefan at the National Junior College Athletic Association Championships while attending Diablo Valley College (DVC). He brings the most up to date, Olympic caliber, training techniques to us. He is currently training for the 2020 US Olympic Team. We could not be more excited, to have someone with Brandon’s abilities, as an integral part of IVST and to help your swimmers.
